Proper Selection of Buna® EP Grades

The choice of the correct Buna® EP grade is determined by the Mooney viscosity, ethylene content, and termonomer content of the polymer. High molecular weights improve resilience, compression set and tensile strength but lead to a lower flowability of the uncured compound. EPDM grades with high ethylene content behave more like a thermoplastic; the content of non-conjugated diene (termonomer) determines the curing properties, compression set and the stress-strain behavior.
